Abstract Submissions

Abstracts are now being solicited for the 2008 AHSR Conference. Two types of submissions are invited: Symposia (thematic sessions featuring 3-4 presentations) and Individual Presentations (which may be delivered as oral presentations or posters). Details and instructions follow.

All submissions should be sent via email to ahsr2008@courier.brandeis.edu. Submission deadline is May 30.

Symposium Submissions

Symposia are envisioned as 90-minute paper sessions featuring 4 presentations related to a common theme. Each symposium must have a chairperson or moderator (who may be one of the presenters). Preference will be given to symposia that feature a mix of studies, research teams, and institutions.

Proposals for symposia must be submitted as a single application. To submit a symposium proposal, compile the following materials:

1. A cover page including (a) the proposed symposium title; (b) a brief description of the purpose and theme of the symposium; (c) the name and affiliation of the symposium chairperson or moderator (who may be one of the presenters); (d) the title and presenting author of each of the planned presentations; and (e) name and full contact information for the designated “contact person” for the symposium (include mail, email, phone and fax).
2. On separate sheets, provide a complete abstract for each of the planned presentations. Each abstract is limited to 1 page, and should include the following information: (a) presentation title; (b) authors and affiliations; (c) full contact information for the presenting author (include mail, email, phone and fax); and (d) an abstract containing the following elements: research question or hypothesis; data and methods; findings; implications for health services research; and an acknowledgment of funding source or other support (if applicable). Findings should be descriptive – do not write "findings will be discussed."
3. Attach the cover sheet and all abstracts (preferably as MSWord or PDF files) to a single email, and send to ahsr2008@courier.brandeis.edu no later than May 30.

Individual Poster/Paper Submissions

Individual submissions (i.e., not part of a pre-planned symposium) are also welcome. These presentations may be grouped into paper sessions, or delivered as part of a poster session. We ask that authors be flexible in their willingness to present in either format, as this will allow the maximum number of participants to be included on the conference program. If you are only willing to present your research as either an oral presentation or as a poster, please indicate this on your abstract.
